World Book Day

Today it's world book day. I remember during my years in my primary school, I dressed up, like in year one I dressed up as a medieval princess, year 3 I dressed up as little red riding hood, Year 5 I dressed up as one of just fairy tale characters and Year 6 I wore Cleopatra queen of Egypt. During Secondary school, we didn't dressed up, it was staff who dressed up.

So why reading it's good for you?

It strengthens your brain. The more you read, the more your brain will gain knowledge

It build up your vocabulary. There are books that have some difficult words, so if you don't know you can write those words, use the dictionary to find out what does it mean. Remember that depend on the sentences, so even if you can't find the right meaning, you can guess. It'll help your study especially during GCSE and A-level (if you're taking it)

You can relax and get better quality sleep by reading before bed.

When is the best time to read?

Anytime. If you're having a break from studying especially online, you can read the book. You can read as bedtime and during the morning to freshen your brains

I do it every single day.

What type of books should you read?

Well that depend your age. Preschool, Nursery or Kindergarten read some fairytales or any stories that have easy words.

Older kids especially teenagers would read a higher one with advanced words and phrases.

If you never read before, start reading the book on level one, then level 2 and when you feel that you can accomplished, you can read the higher one.

It could be anything, like fairytales, sci-fi, religion, planets, something educational, mythology and anything.

What if the book you're reading has no picture

Not all storybooks have a picture. When you're reading any passage who can imagine what will it look like.

Like if you're reading a the first series of 'The Maze Runner' which I haven't read, but watched a film. You can picture the first scene where teenage boy named Thomas landed on a place where teenage boy lived and they're trapped.

Read a book or watch a film?

I suggested that you read a book first and then watch the film. There's similarities and differences between them. Like in Eid 2020, I read a book called 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes' and November 2023, me and my family watched a film. It was 2 hours or nearly 3 hours.

In case if you're wondering which costume am I wearing today? None. I'm wearing normal clothes.

Here is the photo of me dressing up as Princess Anna from the movie 'Frozen' and it was during my 13th birthday (2018)
