Water in the Bible

Today it is World Water Day and water have an important role

Water Gives Rise to Life: Water is connected to both creation and life in the Bible. The creation of life from water is told in Genesis 1 and the rising of a stream from the earth to irrigate the land is mentioned in Genesis 2. Realising that water is the source of life serves as a reminder of our reliance on it.

Baptism and Cleaning: The act of being baptised, which entails submersion in water, represents our union with Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection. Through this act, we are cleansed and renewed, just as Jesus was. Water is a symbol for purification—both physical and spiritual.

Living Water: Jesus describes himself as the source of "living water" in John 4:10. This allegory highlights eternal existence and spiritual sustenance. We shall never again experience thirst as we sip from this living water.

Love and Service: Following the Last Supper, Jesus showed his disciples his love and humility by washing their feet. Water came to represent essential and personal care in a potent way. Christ's love purifies our souls in the same way that water purifies our bodies.

Stewardship and Responsibilities: We have an obligation to safeguard water as stewards of

God's creation. Pure fresh water is uncommon, despite being present everywhere. Scarcity, overuse, and pollution pose a threat to its availability. This valuable resource has to be appreciated and preserved.

Sadly our water is in grave danger and here are some steps to save them

Minimise Waste: Take care of leaks right away, use less water at home, and cut back on usage.

Safeguard Water Sources: Avoid contamination by disposing of waste and chemicals correctly.

Promote Clean Water: Back programmes that give underserved areas access to clean water.

Pray and Think: Give water some thought and consider its importance. Then, pray for its preservation.
