Isaiah 9:6-7: These passages foretell the birth of a child who will be called by divine titles, such as Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Wonderful Counsellor, and Everlasting Father. This child will take David's throne and establish an enduring system of justice and harmony.
Micah 5:2: This verse foretells the arrival of a ruler from the little Judah town of Bethlehem. The fact that this monarch has ancient roots suggests that it is divine and has always been.
Luke 1:27-35: This passage describes the angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary that she will conceive and give birth to Jesus. Gabriel tells Mary that Jesus will be great, called the Son of the Most High, and will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end. The Holy Spirit will come upon Mary, and the power of the Most High will overshadow her, making the child holy and the Son of God.
Together, these words predict the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, who will be born in Bethlehem and establish an enduring kingdom of justice and peace. Jesus is said to possess celestial qualities and an eternal dominion.
