Together, the disciples were cruising the Sea of Galilee in a boat. After spending the day with Jesus, they witnessed something incredible from him.
He fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish! Their aim was for Jesus to be crowned king by the people. Nevertheless, after sending some people home at the conclusion of the day, Jesus told the disciples "go ahead. Take the boat across the lake." Jesus then retired to a secluded area to offer prayers.
Dark clouds were starting to build up out on the lake. The fishing boat was battered by furious waves caused by the wind. The anglers pulled at the oars. They continued to pull, but the wind was really powerful.
The storm raged on into the night. The waves were driven higher and higher by the wind. The disciples had gotten rather far from the coast by this point.
Jesus chose to go to them after spotting them far out on the lake just before dawn, when it was still dark.
The disciples abruptly noticed someone approaching them from across the river. They let out a terrified cry, "It's a ghost!"
The sight of someone approaching them and crossing the waves as though they were on solid ground alarmed them.
A recognisable voice said, "Don't be afraid! Is it me, Jesus?"
Peter said, "If it's really You, Lord, tell me to come to You on water." at that point.
Jesus motioned for His excited and perhaps careless followers to "come".
Peter got out of the boat and started to walk on top of the water while glancing at Jesus.
He moved in multiple directions. Afterward, he averted his gaze from Jesus and returned it to his followers. Maybe he was just thinking. Hi there! Take a look at me! Is it really true?
He noticed the enormous waves as he began to turn back towards Jesus. He could feel the wind picking up speed. He began to sink as a result of his fear.
"Lord!" Peter cried out, losing all courage. "Save me!"
Jesus's powerful arm extended to grasp Peter even as he started to sink. Taking hold of his hand, Jesus raised him up.
Jesus remarked, "You of little faith. Why did you doubt?" Jesus intended for Peter to simply need to focus on Him.
Peter had to maintain his faith that Jesus could deliver him. After Jesus wrapped His arm around Peter, the two got into the boat.
The waves softened and the wind died down once Jesus was inside the boat.
The small fishing boat silently made its way across the lake.
Jesus tells us today, "Just focus your attention on Me! I've come to your aid! Don't worry, you can't do it by yourself. You can be saved by me! Simply maintain your faith in Me."
