A guy by the name of John the Baptist resided there. He dressed himself in camel hair and consumed wild honey and locusts. He introduced everyone to the promised one, the Messiah.
He admonished the populace to make preparations for the Lord and straighten their path, for the kingdom of heaven is near at hand.
He performed baptisms in the Jordan River. Their transgressions were erased.
Then, Jesus asked John to baptise him as they walked into the river. John had known Jesus from an early age.
"Why have you inquired? You were not a sinner. You ought to baptise me." In response, Jesus said, "Let it be as it should be so we can fulfil God's plan."
John took Jesus and baptised him because he trusted him.
The Holy Spirit entered Jesus' body when he emerged from the sea a second time. Heavenly God declared, "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased."
John realised now that Jesus, his longtime buddy, was the Messiah.
