Responsible (story)

Pretend I'm a mother and I have two sons, the oldest is named Khalid and the youngest is named Malik. The oldest is 10 years old and he is old enough to look after himself and be in home alone, but not old enough to look after his 5 years old brother. One day I took my youngest with me to go shopping. Before we leave, I ask Khalid to clean the living room because they both made the mess and finished the dishes as I have done half of it. Usually when my son is home alone and I have gone shopping, he writes the time that I left and then writes the time that I return. Usually it's an hour or minute, depending on the shopping list or the queue. This is the first time that I have asked him. However the shopping was not long, it was only 5 minutes and we arrived at home. When we arrived I saw my son was lying on the sofa and watching Power Rangers: Megaforce, which I used to watch when I was 10 or a bit older. I checked the kitchen and I saw not a single dirty dish lying down on the sink. I was pleased and checked the living room and it was spotless. I am pleased. As a reward I took my two sons and went to the park.

Let' see if my son didn't do it and he just sat and watched TV while we were away and I found out. I wouldn't say "That's it Khalid. You're not my son anymore. You didn't do the dishes. You didn't clean the living room. That's it. Get out." But me and Khalid will have a difficult argument conversion.
