Today it is Holocaust Memorial Day. Where men, women and children mostly from Jewish faith were send to concentration camp order by the Nazi across the Europe (where they have invaded).
Adolf Hitler's Nazi party in Germany was in charge of organising the murders.
The Nazis' primary target population was Jews, who also accounted for the majority of their fatalities. Because of their identification, almost seven out of ten Jews in Europe were slaughtered.
The Nazis also massacred members of the Roma (also known as "gipsies") and crippled populations. Other groups, such as political opponents and homosexuals, were also jailed and had their rights violated. As a result of their care, several of them passed away.
Genocide took place during the Holocaust. Genocide is the intentional death of a large population, usually due to the victim's race, ethnicity, or religion.
Many survived and lived to tell the story like Otto Frank (1889-1980) who published his late 15 years old daughter, Anne Frank's diary. She died along with his 18 years old daughter Margot and his wife Edith. They were all Jews.
Some non-Jews stood up against the Nazi, like Noor Inayat Khan the first British Muslim war spy and she was betrayed and killed by gunshot in her head in the death camp in France order by the Nazi in 1944. The Ten Boom family (watchmaker family) hid the Jews in their home and they also created hiding place. Sadly the family was send to death camp, only survived, Corrie Ten Boom, she lost her father and her older sister Bestie.
We must remember those who have died and those who risk their lives to save them even though they knew they will be slaughter.
