Four ingredients to the will of God

The concept of the will of God can be understood through various aspects as highlighted in the Bible. Here are four key “ingredients” or aspects of God’s will, along with relevant KJV Bible verses and explanations:

1. God’s Sovereign Will

This refers to God’s ultimate control and plan for everything that happens in the universe.

Verse: Ephesians 1:11 - “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”

Explanation: This verse emphasizes that God has a sovereign plan and purpose for everything. His will is supreme and encompasses all events in history.

2. God’s Moral Will

This pertains to God’s commandments and teachings on how we should live our lives.

Verse: 1 Thessalonians 4:3 - “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.”

Explanation: God’s moral will involves living a holy and righteous life according to His commandments. This includes abstaining from sinful behaviors and striving for sanctification.

3. God’s Individual Will

This is God’s specific plan and purpose for each person’s life.

Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Explanation: These verses encourage believers to trust in God and seek His guidance in all aspects of their lives. God has a unique plan for each individual and will direct their paths if they rely on Him.

4. God’s Secret Will

This refers to aspects of God’s will that are hidden from us and known only to Him.

Verse: Deuteronomy 29:29 - “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

Explanation: This verse acknowledges that there are certain things that God has chosen not to reveal to us. These secret aspects of His will are beyond our understanding and are known only to Him.

These four aspects help us understand the comprehensive nature of God’s will, encompassing His sovereign plans, moral commandments, individual guidance, and hidden purposes.
