Most people, especially Christians think that they are good. They pray. They read their Bibles. They volunteer to help others. Even help old people cross the street. These deeds are wonderful. But it that true? That depend on every person. How do they do it and why they do it?
Do you do good works just to let other people know that you're doing them? If you volunteer before, when you did this, do you post on social media every time you do it?
When you pray, do you try to do it publicly so everybody knows?
In Matthew 6 "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven." But why? Because you'll loose the rewards from God in Heaven.
If people pat you on the back now because they see everything you do, God says that's your reward.
How do you get those heavenly rewards? Don't show off when doing good deeds. The problem is people do good and charitable acts all the time but what was the motivation behind it. Was it from a pure heart to please God? Or so that you could look good on social media?
