A Light in the Darkness

There was an eerie quiet around the city on the anniversary of September 11, 2001. To honour and mourn those who had passed away, people came. A young girl named Emily, who was intelligent and devoted to Christ, was one of them. Even though Emily was only ten years old, her faith reached its highest peak.

It had always been instilled in Emily that Jesus would never abandon someone. Hebrews 13:5, which reads, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you," was her favourite scripture. Her parents had told her stories from the Bible. Especially on days like today when the world seemed so heavy with loss, this verse had come to serve as her anchor.

Emily saw the sorrow in the eyes of people around her as the memorial service got underway. A pull in her heart told her to share the solace she had found in Jesus. She stepped up to the stage where people were asked to speak after taking a deep breath.

With a slight tremble in her voice, she added, "Excuse me." Astonished to find such a young girl standing there, the crowd turned to face her. "I'm Emily, and I would like to share something with all of you."

She took a deep breath and continued, “Today, we remember a very sad day. But I want you to know that Jesus is with us. He promised that He would never leave us or forsake us. Even in our darkest times, He is our light.”

The crowd listened intently as Emily spoke. “I know it’s hard to understand why bad things happen, but Jesus loves us so much. He is always there to comfort us and give us strength. We just need to trust in Him.”

Many people's eyes welled with tears as they heard Emily's sincere remarks. Her message, albeit brief, had a tremendous effect on them. "Let's not forget that Jesus is our hope," she said. "He will never desert us, under any circumstances. In His love, we can find serenity."

The audience cheered when Emily was done. Everyone in the room felt at ease and full of hope after hearing her words. As she spoke, others gathered around her to express gratitude for her bravery and to remind her of Jesus' unwavering love.

The people began to hear Emily's message as the day wore on. People started talking about their personal experiences with faith and how they had sensed Jesus' presence in their lives. The anniversary of 9/11 evolved from being a day of sadness to one of optimism and rebirth.

Emily's faith had shone brilliantly, showing everyone that Jesus is always there for us, even in the depths of darkness, and His love never wavers.
