Gospel In Greensleeves 15: Jesus Is The Light Of The World (Diwali special)

In the picturesque land of Greensleeves, where rolling hills meet lush meadows, a group of seven dedicated teenagers were on a mission. Bella, Mary, Elizabeth, Kate, Katherine, Anne, and Jane were determined to spread the Gospel and share the light of Jesus with everyone they met.

As Diwali approached, the Festival of Lights, the girls saw a unique opportunity. Diwali, celebrated by many in Greensleeves, symbolized the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The girls realized this was the perfect time to talk about Jesus, the true Light of the World.

The group gathered in Bella's cozy living room, illuminated by the soft glow of lamps. Mary spoke up first, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Diwali is all about light," she said. "What better time to share about Jesus, who said, 'I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.' (John 8:12 KJV)"

The girls nodded in agreement. Elizabeth added, "We can create lanterns with verses from the Bible, and hand them out during the festivities."

Over the next week, the girls busied themselves with preparations. They made beautiful lanterns, each inscribed with a verse about Jesus being the light. They also prepared a short play about the life of Jesus, to be performed in the town square.

The night of Diwali arrived, and Greensleeves was aglow with colorful lights and cheerful faces. The girls set up their booth in the heart of the square, decorated with the lanterns they had crafted. As people passed by, they handed out the lanterns and shared the message of Jesus.

"Jesus said, 'I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.' (John 12:46 KJV)" Katherine explained to a curious onlooker.

As the evening progressed, the crowd gathered around the makeshift stage. Anne stepped forward to narrate, and the others enacted the story of Jesus. They showed His birth, His teachings, His miracles, and His ultimate sacrifice on the cross.

Jane concluded the play with a powerful message, "Just as Diwali celebrates the victory of light over darkness, Jesus brings light into our lives and guides us out of darkness. He is the ultimate source of hope and love."

She added, "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2 Corinthians 4:6 KJV)

After the play, many people stayed to talk and learn more. Some were moved by the message, and others found new hope in the story of Jesus. The girls knew their mission was a success.

As they walked home, Bella said, "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light." (Ephesians 5:8 KJV)

The other girls smiled, feeling a sense of fulfillment and joy. They had spread the Gospel in Greensleeves, and the light of Jesus shone brightly in their hearts and in their community.

"Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." (Ephesians 5:14 KJV)
