I'm pretty sure that you all have heard the news that there was a big hurricane in Florida, on 1st October and it killed nearly half the population and destroyed their homes. Today, the people of Florida are currently preparing for a huge storm. They are leaving home.
Hurricanes are quite big. But God is way bigger than the hurricane. He can control the cyclone.
Here are a few verses from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible that illustrate God’s power over storms and His greatness:
Nahum 1:3: "The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet."
Psalm 107:29: "He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still."
Mark 4:39: "And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
These words emphasise that God controls all natural phenomena, including hurricanes and storms. It is highlighted in Nahum 1:3 that God is so powerful that He can control the storm and whirlwind. God's power over nature is demonstrated in Psalm 107:29, which demonstrates that He can quiet the storm. Jesus' account of calming a storm in Mark 4:39 serves as more evidence that God has authority over even the mightiest natural elements.
Together, these verses demonstrate that God's power is greater than that of any natural occurrence, including storms. His total authority and greatness are symbolised by His capacity to manage and calm storms.
